# Trézor Login™® — Starting Up™ Your Device | Trezor®®

> Trezor login supports the initial wallet setup process with guidance for device configuration, account access, portfolio visibility,

**Trezor "Login" is essentially not a traditional account login, but rather a local cryptographic verification process triggered by physical hardware.** It does not require a username or password; the core security logic is that the private keys never leave the device. The so-called "login" is simply you connecting the hardware wallet and entering a PIN on the device to authorize the Trezor Suite software to read the public wallet information.

### **I. The "Login" Verification Process**

The first step is to connect the Trezor device to your computer using the original or a data-capable USB cable and open the Trezor Suite desktop application (the web version requires a Chromium-based browser). After the Suite detects the device, the device screen will display a **randomized numeric keypad** (a 3x3 grid). You need to find the corresponding numbers on the device screen and click the **corresponding positions** on the computer screen to enter your PIN. For models with a touchscreen like the Model T, you can directly tap on the device. After successful verification, you can view your account balance and transaction history in the Suite.

If you have enabled the **Passphrase** (hidden wallet) feature, after entering the PIN you will also be prompted to enter this phrase. Note: Passphrases are **case-sensitive** and **spaces count as characters**; entering a different passphrase will open a completely different wallet. Trezor does not store your passphrase, and if forgotten, the assets in the hidden wallet cannot be recovered.

### **II. Common Failures and Troubleshooting**

If the Suite cannot detect the device, **first try replacing the USB cable**. Many charging cables do not support data transfer, and the device may light up but fail to communicate properly. If the cable is fine, try a different USB port or restart the Suite. Windows users may need to install Zadig drivers to resolve USB recognition issues. Additionally, certain VPNs, firewalls, or ad-blocking browser extensions may interfere with the connection; you can try temporarily disabling them.

### **III. Security Red Lines (Critical)**

**Trezor's official team will never ask you to enter your recovery seed (wallet backup phrase) on a website or in a chat window.** The only scenario where you need to use your seed is when the device itself is lost or damaged and you need to restore your wallet on a new device. In recent years, there have been multiple phishing sites impersonating Trezor login pages to trick users into entering their seed phrases, resulting in asset theft. There have also been cases where threat actors used Google sponsored ads to push fake Trezor pages; one victim lost approximately 24 BTC. Before "logging in," be sure to confirm that the Suite is downloaded from [**trezor.io**](http://trezor.io) and that the web version's domain is correct
